We have already seen numbers in Gujarati in these previous two lessons
http://learn-gujarati-from-english.blogspot.in/2013/12/numbers-in-gujarati-part-1.html
http://learn-gujarati-from-english.blogspot.in/2014/01/numbers-in-gujarati-part-2.html
Here we will see forms of verb like "first","second" etc. "single","double/both" etc.
Counting sequence
In Gujarati we have special words for sequence from 1 to 6. From 7 on wards form of મો (mo) is appended to number.
As these are kind of adjective ending with ઓ(o) they will have forms as per gender and multiplicity as seen in lesson
http://learn-gujarati-from-english.blogspot.in/2013/12/adjectives-in-gujarati.html
like પહેલો-પહેલી-પહેલું-પહેલા-પહેલી-પહેલાં (pahelo-pahelI-paheluM-pahelA-pahelI-pahelAM) etc.
e.g.
First boy -પહેલો છોકરો (pahelo Chokaro )
Also do not get confused between wordપહેલો(pahelo) & પેલો(pelo).
પેલો(pelo) means "that(masculine)" So it is a pronoun. For other genders such pronouns are પેલી (pelI), પેલું (peluM).
For number four onward it follows same pattern; i.e.
for masculine "number and then "જણ".
For feminine number and then "જણીઓ"
For neuter we use just number.
Fractional numbers
As અડધો (aDadho ) & પોણો (poNo ) are adjective ending with ઓ(o) they will have forms as per gender and multiplicity.
Similarly three onward ‘half’ figure is said by prefixing સાડા (saDA)
Similarly two onward "quarter to" type figure is said by prefixing પોણા (poNA).
ત્રણ point સિત્તેર (traN "point" sitter )

The fractional number with decimal point.
The number “10.3” is generally said in English as “Ten point three”. Similarly we say in Gujarati. For point the word is દશાંશ (dashAMsh)
But in spoken Gujarati people generally use English word “point” itself.
10.5 -> દસ દશાંશ પાંચ (das dashAMsh pAMch)
દસ point પાંચ (das "point" pAMch)
3.70 -> ત્રણ દશાંશ સિત્તેર (traN dashAMsh sitter )
"percent" in English is ટકા( TakA) in Gujarati.
e.g.
11 % -> eleven percent ->અગિયાર ટકા (agiyAr TakA )
e.g.
11 % -> eleven percent ->અગિયાર ટકા (agiyAr TakA )
20% -> twenty percent -> વીસ ટકા (vIs TakA )
20.5% -> twenty point five percent ->વીસ point પાંચ ટકા (vIs point pAMch TakA )
ટકા( TakA) is plural of word ટકો ( Tako). So we use it only for 1%
1% -> એક ટકો (ek Tako)
ટકા( TakA) is plural of word ટકો ( Tako). So we use it only for 1%
1% -> એક ટકો (ek Tako)
