Negative sentence in are present continuous tense very easy to create from corresponding positive sentence.
Positive sentence structure is
Doer of action
|
verb + ઈ(I)
|
Form of રહેવું
(“rahevuM”)
|
Form of હોવું
(“hovuM”) as in Present Tense
|
અમે (ame)
|
કરી (karI)
|
રહ્યાં(rahyAM)
|
છીએ(ChIe)
|
In negative sentence, we do not use Form of હોવું (“hovuM”). Instead we use word નથી(nathi) for all genders and multiplicity and persons. Generally નથી(nathi) is said before, verb + ઈ(I).
So negative sentence structure is
Doer of action
|
નથી(nathi)
|
Form of રહેવું
(“rahevuM”)
| |
અમે (ame)
|
નથી(nathi)
|
કરી (karI)
|
રહ્યાં(rahyAM)
|
Below I have given both positive and negative setnence, thus it is easy to compare
Examples:-
(If a boy says) I am doing :- હું કરી રહ્યો છું(huM karI rahyo ChuM)
(If a boy says) I am not doing :- હું નથી કરી રહ્યો (huM nathi karI rahyo )
(If a girl says) I am doing :- હું કરી રહી છું(huM karI rahI ChuM)
(If a girl says) I am not doing :- હું નથી કરી રહી (huM nathi karI rahI )
(To a girl) You are laughing :- તું હસી રહી છે (tuM hasI rahI Che )
(To a girl) You are not laughing :- તું નથી હસી રહી (tuM nathi hasI rahI )
Tree is moving :- ઝાડ હલી રહ્યું છે ( jhAD halI rahyuM Che )
Tree is not moving :- ઝાડ નથી હલી રહ્યું ( jhAD nathi halI rahyuM )
My teeth are moving :- મારાં દાંત હલી રહ્યાં છે ( mArAM dAMt halI rahyAM Che )
My teeth are not moving :- મારાં દાંત નથી હલી રહ્યાં ( mArAM dAMt nathi halI rahyAM )

He(polite form) is not coming :- તેઓ નથી આવી રહ્યા ( teo nathi AvI rahyA )

Note that નથી(nathI) can also come after verb
e.g. રામ નથી રમી રહ્યો ( rAm nathi ramI rahyo ) is same as રામ રમી રહ્યો નથી ( rAm ramI rahyo nathi )
તેઓ નથી આવી રહ્યા ( teo nathi AvI rahyA ) is same as તેઓ આવી રહ્યા નથી ( teo AvI rahyA nathi )
etc. similarly for other examples.
